TOP 13 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A BUILDER


  1. Building experience: Do you have at least three years continuous business in this state.

  2. Past references: Would you provide written references from homebuyers, suppliers, trade contractors and financial institutions?

  3. Dedication and professionalism: Is your main source of income from home building?

  4. Offer and follow set building standards: Do you follow the HBA's Homeowner Handbook, for example?

  5. Have an approved limited warranty: Is there protection from future problems clearly stated in writing?

  6. Offer binding arbitration: Do you offer binding arbitration and abide by the Housing Institute's Dispute Resolution Process?

  7. Obtain continuing education in building: Does he/she know the latest information in the industry?
