The ACT Assessment® is designed to assess high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work. The tests cover four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science.
Gwinnett ACT scores set new record, topping state and national averages Gwinnett students continue to show steady improvement on the ACT Assessment. In Gwinnett, test-takers posted an average composite score of 21.8 out of a possible 36, compared to 20.3 for the state and 21.2 for the nation, setting a new record for the system’s highest-ever composite score and improving on the previous year’s scores in all areas. Additionally, more GCPS students took the ACT than ever before. This year 2,450 students took the test, up from 2,125 students in 2006. The graduating class of 2007 demonstrated a higher level of performance from the previous year in all areas of the test:
